Contemporary Korowai Weaving Workshops
A chance to create your own Miniature Contemporary Korowai and display attractively in a box-frame. A wonderful gift or “Taonga” for a precious person, these can be made even more special by incorporating items of personal meaning to the recipient. On the other hand, they also can make a beautiful family heirloom by adding chosen items with special connection to the family.

Workshop Costs
The cost of the workshop is fully funded, all gratitude and thanks to Creative Rodney East. The venue is generously provided by Community Places, Auckland Council. All you need to pay for is materials, by cash on the day.
Per participant: $50
(Community Services Card holders and Gold Card holders: $40)
What this includes:
All materials to create your miniature korowai are in the materials kit. However, feel free to bring along any other special things you would like to incorporate, including: pendant and beads, yarn, feathers, ribbon, etc.

About the Creator
A long-time visual artist and sculptor, Harini learned weaving later in life, finding that it came to her quite naturally. She enjoys creating all her own designs, and continues to experiment with colour and weaving techniques. Interested in a simplified, chunkier and more contemporary look, with feathers as the main feature, her current passion is creating contemporary Korowai wearable art and wall art.
A firm believer in continual learning, she finds workshops a learning experience for herself as much as for the students. She welcomes all who are interested in creating miniature contemporary Korowai art to come along and share knowledge, creativity and inspiration together.
