About
“My project involves sending artists to spend a week at beach houses in the Matakana area, particularly during the less busy seasons of autumn, winter, and spring. These houses often remain unoccupied during these times. We all understand the value of having time and space to think and fully dedicate oneself to artistic endeavours.”
How would this initiative be creative on its own?
”I plan to set up unique installations in the baches for the artists. For instance, I might place postits with twenty thought-provoking questions around the house or curate a selection of books for their stay. Additionally, I would stock the pantry with local provisions to enhance their comfort.
The owners of the baches would have the first opportunity to purchase a piece of art from the visiting artist or support them in other ways. I aim to host four one-week residencies.”
About the Creator
“Having lived in Matakana intermittently, I plan to return permanently by summer 2025. Each visit from Auckland has left me feeling rejuvenated and inspired. In the past, I ran “A Soft Landing,” an Airbnb from my spare room. My “Sensitive Boyfriend” project, which spanned ten years, reached its peak when I delivered a talk to 200 people about my breakfast delivery service.”
